Best Phones For Wedding Video Content Recording

wedding, married couple, wedding video content

What is the best smartphone for video recording in 2024? If you love capturing those special moments of wedding videography, you need a capable smartphone. While almost all smartphones allow users to capture videos, not all of them can record at the highest resolution and with great clarity. The best phones for capturing amazing wedding video content, are like mini movie studios in your pocket.

What features to look for in a phone for videography?

If you are looking for a reliable smartphone mainly for video recording, you need to look for features, such as sensor size, resolution, high frame rates, optical image stabilisation (OIS), a powerful chipset, a dedicated image processing chip, manual controls, and so on.

If you are into vlogging, which has been one of the major trends in recent times, you can opt for a smartphone with a good front-facing camera.

1. iPhone 15 Pro Max

The iPhone 15 Pro Max supports up to 60fps 4K video recording. Its Cinematic mode supports up to 4K HDR at 30fps, and there is an Action mode that works like a gimbal by offering improved video stabilisation ideal for shooting videos of fast-paced activities like sports. It also supports 1080p slow-motion videos at 120fps or 240fps. Other video recording features available on the iPhone 15 Pro Max include OIS, ProRes, time-lapse, and HDR with Dolby Vision.

2. Wedding video content recording on a iPhone 15 Pro

The iPhone 15 Pro, while slightly more affordable than the Pro Max, still offers a robust suite of videography features. You still get 60fps 4K video shooting, Cinematic mode, Action mode, and more. Since both models share the same rear camera setup, expect similar wedding video content performance. Naturally, the smaller size of the 15 Pro means you will get a slightly smaller display and battery compared to the Pro Max.

3. Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra

The Galaxy S24 Ultra supports up to 30fps 8K video recording. It offers various video recording features like OIS, portrait videography, dual recording with front and rear cameras at the same time, autofocus on the subject while recording, 10-bit HDR, 60fps 4K video recording through a selfie camera, and more.

In addition, with AI Frame Rate Conversion (AI FRC) technology, the S24 Ultra can transform standard 24fps HD videos into smooth, 60fps UHD slow-motion clips. It can even push 240fps Full HD footage into cinematic 120fps UHD slow-motion for even more dramatic results.

4. Vivo X100 Pro

All three 50MP cameras available on the rear of the Vivo X100 Pro support up to 60fps 4K video recording. Its main camera can shoot up to 30fps 8K videos and 4K cinematic portrait videos.

Speaking of the main camera, it is the only phone in this list to feature a one-inch camera sensor, the Sony IMX989, which promises to capture crisp videos even in low-light conditions. Additionally, an in-house Vivo V3 chip aids in advanced portrait videography.

5. OnePlus 12

The OnePlus 12 is also capable of shooting 24fps 8K and up to 60fps 4K videos. It also supports 4K HDR video recording with Dolby Vision at 30fps. In addition, it offers other videography features, such as 1080p slow-motion videos, dual view (recording with the front and rear cameras simultaneously), time-lapse, and Pro mode.

How To Film Interview Video Content?

Shooting an interview is not as easy as it looks. There are lots of things you need to consider when filming interview video content, to look at the best cameras look here or here. You need to know what equipment and expertise you will need to film the interview.

video content

How to do an interview?

1.  Prepare for the Interview

  • Know your goals
  • Do your background research on the topic
  • Formulate your interview questions
  • Find a good place for the interview
  • Have backup equipment ready to go

Know your Goals

In preparing for the interview, you should first need to be clear of your ultimate goals. For example, will the interview be friendly, hostile, etc. Are you trying to get the interviewee to open up personally or about their business etc.?

Do your background research on the topic

You should always do as much research as possible. Watch and read previous interviews that are similar subject to yours. If possible read previous interviews from the subject you plan to interview and build your questions/focus from what you think worked.

Formulate Your Interview Questions

Prepare at least 20 to 30 questions per 30 minute interview. This will enable you to ask questions that suit where the conversation is going. Be ready to ask impromptu questions during the interview.  The key is to get the information that you outlined in your goals. Remember, the more comfortable your interviewee, the better the chance of them opening up.

First, start by asking simple questions. Asking simple questions will make your interviewee feel at ease.

A good idea is to get a little background on the subject. You can ask your interviewee from where he or she is from and build in from there. These might seem like silly questions that won’t interest your viewer. However, you can always edit them out later. Their purpose is to relax the interviewee and make them feel comfortable in front of the camera to create the best video content.

A person tends to forget the tension after several minutes when the mood is light. When you see that he or she is at ease, you can ask the hard questions related to your topic.

Look for a willing guest for the interview

If you are doing street interviews, you might find that getting participants for an interview is not easy.  Should anyone agree to be a participant in front of a camera, they won’t do very well if the interviewer asks hard questions. Unless the interview is lengthy, try to keep questions simple and straightforward.

If you are planning an interview with a specific subject then this is not a problem as they will have already agreed to the interview beforehand.

2.  Film The Interview Video Content

Prepare the set

Prepare your set before your interviewee arrives. Make sure that it is ready 30 minutes before the start of an interview. This will help ensure things go smoothly.

Adjust the light based on your interviewee’s height and wardrobe. Good lighting is essential as most interviews are one shot deals.

Placement of the camera is also important. You should make sure that the camera will capture everything you need. Adjust every angle for good filming. It is a good idea to have multiple cameras going. Try to film the subject from at least two angles and the interviewer too.

Always be prepared for last minute changes. Things can take unexpected turns at any time.

Camera and subject placement

Always remember camera placement and subject placement are vital. You can film your subject straight on or at an angle. Straight on is generally recommended.

Feel relax and start the interview

It is important that both of you and the interviewee feel relaxed and comfortable. If you sense they are on edge, ask a few questions before the interview starts. Also, for longer interviews, discuss the process with your interviewee. This will make them feel more relaxed.

During the interview, continue recording even if your interviewee messes up their answers. You will find that you can edit your video content later to get the best out of the information they give.

Listen

Always pay full attention to what your interviewee is saying. There is a temptation when interviewing someone to focus on what the next question you is about to ask will be. This is wrong. Listen carefully and let things flow.

Observe their body language and facial expressions. Use your body language to keep them interested. Nod your head if you agree with them or to show that you are fully listening to them.

Other Tips:

  • Remember to get the permission of your interviewee to avoid legal problems.
  • Always carry with you extra batteries for your camera.
  • Make sure you have plenty of time booked for your interview to avoid rushing.
  • Avoid asking yes or no questions.

Wedding Videographer Tips when shooting In The Rain

Are you a wedding videographer whose you ever been in a situation where you had to shoot an outdoor ceremony in the rain? We understand that sometimes it’s far from enjoyable. Not only do you end up getting wet, but you also need to make sure your filming gear stays dry and operational. Whether you’re capturing your first rainy wedding videography or looking to enhance your skills, these tips will be your invaluable companion on the journey to creating cinematic magic, even amidst the raindrops.

wedding videographer , married couple

1. Check the Weather Forecast

Before setting out for a rainy wedding shoot, always consult the weather forecast. Accurate and up-to-date information is your best ally when preparing for unpredictable weather conditions. Knowing the timing and intensity of the rain enables you to plan outdoor shots during weather lulls and ready your equipment accordingly.

2. Scout Locations

Rain doesn’t have to dampen your creativity. Before the wedding, scout locations with cover or indoor options. Look for charming indoor spaces, picturesque porches, gazebos, or overhangs that can serve as beautiful backdrops for your shots. Having designated rainy-day locations can save the day and elevate your rainy wedding videography.

3. Use a Second wedding videographer

For a rainy wedding, it’s wise to enlist the support of a second shooter. Having another seasoned videographer on board provides added coverage, allowing you to capture diverse angles and moments, particularly in the midst of unpredictable weather. This collaborative effort ensures you won’t miss any critical shots and provides a safety net for your wedding videography endeavors.

4. Protect Your Gear

Defend your equipment from the rain to maintain optimal functionality. Invest in rain covers for your camera and lenses, employ lens hoods, and store gear in waterproof bags or cases when not in use. Prioritize safeguarding your tools to ensure peak performance throughout the wedding event, come rain or shine. To learn about the best camera a wedding videographer could use look here.

5. Use Reflectors and Diffusers

Integrate reflectors and diffusers to manage and enhance available light while filming in overcast or rainy conditions. Reflectors redirect light onto your subjects, erasing shadows and creating a harmonious appearance. Diffusers soften harsh light, delivering a gentle and flattering radiance, allowing you to capture splendid, natural-looking shots even in inclement weather.

The Best Drones for Video Content

A high-quality drone can add video production value to a film project or help you get a unique view for your travel vlog—plus, they’re just really fun to fly. These are the top drones we’ve tested. Even if you have no good reason to justify buying one, you have to admit that drones are cool. Some are glorified tech toys, but the models we highlight here are fit for imaging and cinematic applications both small and large. If you think you can use a flying camera in your next project, there’s good news—the tech has come a long way in a very short time. Most models on the market now put earlier copters to shame in terms of video content quality and stabilization. To learn about wedding videography with drones look here.

The bad news? You get what you pay for. If you want an aerial video content platform that can capture stunning footage, you need to spend some cash, anywhere from a few hundred to a few thousand dollars. Because drones are such pricey propositions, it pays to do your research before buying one.

Deeper Dive: Our Top Tested Picks

video content
video production

DJI Mini 4 Pro

The DJI Mini 4 Pro is the most capable ultralight drone on the market. It weighs just 249g with its standard battery (good for around 34 minutes of flight time), so you don’t have to register it with the FAA. Creators who don’t mind forms and fees should opt for the extended life battery, however, which pushes flights beyond 45 minutes. Full 360-degree obstacle avoidance, automated flight modes, and a Quad Bayer camera with 4K60 HDR video round out the feature set. We especially like the APAS function, which helps the drone navigate through complex spaces all by itself, even at low altitudes.
Who It’s For
If you’ve looked at the Mini 3 and wanted a bit more, the Mini 4 Pro is a sensible step-up option. Drone enthusiasts, cinematographers looking to add a B-camera for aerials, and creators who don’t mind spending a bit more for smart obstacle avoidance should find the Mini 4 Pro to be a worthwhile upgrade. It’s also a good match for TikTok influencers because it supports vertical 9:16 video.

DJI Mini 2 SE

The DJI Mini 2 SE is the best drone you can get for less than $350. It sports a stabilized 2.7K video camera that snaps 12MP photos, and also includes GPS and Find My Drone functions. Its 249g takeoff weight means you can fly it without dealing with FAA registration—you just need to pass an online knowledge test. We also like the Mini 2 SE’s nearly half-hour flight times, stable performance at its 400-foot altitude limit, and reliable connection to the required smartphone app. We just wish DJI had managed to build in obstacle-detection sensors.
Who It’s For
The Mini 2 SE is the drone to get if you’re just starting out and want to record ultra-smooth 2.7K30 footage from the air. Raw format imaging is also available for photogs who like to post-process.

DJI Air 2S

The DJI Air 2S has a camera with an oversized Type 1 (also called 1-inch) sensor for much better 20MP stills than you can get from the DJI Mini series drones. It supports 5.4K30 and 4K60 video with HDR, flat, or standard profiles, plus it can snap photos in Raw or JPG format. DJI’s strong safety features are here too, including GPS location, obstacle sensors, ADS-B to warn you of nearby manned aircraft, and a 30-minute battery.
Who It’s For
The Air 2S is a compelling drone for stills-first creators. The Type 1 sensor may lag behind Quad Bayer chips in pixel count, but captures a wider dynamic range, so photogs have more leeway for edits to exposure. Video content pros should appreciate the 5.4K resolution and choice of three profiles too, but you may want to step up to a Mavic 3 for more serious cinema work. Keep in mind that you must register this drone with the FAA.

DJI Air 3

The DJI Air 3 puts both a 24mm wide-angle and 70mm mid-telephoto lens on its gimbal-stabilized camera, giving pilots lots of creative options. Its 360-degree obstacle avoidance system is a boost for automated camera moves and follow-me flights, and makes the drone all but crash-proof for manual flight. Long battery life, sharp 4K video content, and good still image quality complete the package.
Who It’s For
If you think the DJI Mini 4 Pro’s single camera is too limiting but don’t want to spend a huge amount on the Mavic 3 Pro, the Air 3 is the in-between drone to get. It matches the Mini 4 Pro’s main camera in picture quality, so the second camera is the main reasons to upgrade.

You might not think it, but Kent has some cracking locations for stunning video opportunities. If you’re looking for the perfect place to film amazing videos for business, look no further. Here is 5 great locations for all company videography, to read about filming with cameras click here.

1. Botany Bay

Dover isn’t the only place in Kent that boasts magnificent chalk cliffs. Botany Bay in Broadstairs does too, and you’re in for a treat if you’ve never been.

It’s well worth a visit at any time of the day, but the beach looks particularly special at sunrise.

Set an early alarm and get yourself down there with your camera. You won’t regret it.

2. White Horse Wood

Looking for a hidden gem in Kent? Look no further.

White Horse Wood, located near Detling Hill in Maidstone, offers magnificent views of the Kent countryside from an elevated position.

Don’t forget to check out the ruins of Thurnham Castle (built in the 12th century) while you’re there.

3. Leeds Castle

company video
videos for business

Unlike the other locations on this list, there is an admission fee to enter Leeds Castle’s picturesque grounds.

But if the cost of a ticket doesn’t put you off, there are plenty of opportunities to get some beautiful images.

There’s the castle itself, of course, but you’ll also find plenty of animals dotted around the 500-acre estate, perfect if wildlife videography is your thing.

They also host a very good Christmas market every single year which can make your company videography that little bit more magical.

4. Whitstable beach

If you’re a sunset lover – and let’s face it, who isn’t? – then I would completely recommend an evening visit to Whitstable.

I’ve watched the sun go down over the sea at Whitstable’s beach on several occasions and usually come away with at least one or two keepers.

You’ll also find the Instagrammable Neptune Pub on the beach front. If you’re passing by, treat yourself to a Whitstable Pale Ale with some fish and chips.

5. Dungeness

company video
videos for business

There’s no getting away from the fact that Dungeness is a bit, well, strange…

Abandoned boats, huts and machinery are dotted across its vast shingle beach. Armed police patrol the nuclear power station located there.

It’s supposedly Britain’s only desert and it certainly has a post-apocalyptic feel to it.

However, Dungeness is undoubtedly a photographer’s dream location. In fact, it’s possibly the most Instagrammable location in the whole of Kent.

STEM Video Content Feed on TikTok

From #BookTok, to finding new music, or learning a new language, the options for learning on TikTok are endless. Another section of TikTok that is wildly popular, with over 110 billion views to date on related hashtags, is STEM video content. TikTok has released a new dedicated feed, exclusively for STEM feed. To facilitate education and entertainment with videos for business related to science, technology, engineering, and math, this is a place for learning to thrive on the app. To learn more about tiktok look here.

video content
videos for business

How The TikTok STEM Feed Works

TikTok has partnered with Common Sense Networks and Poynter, to moderate the STEM feed. Common Sense Networks ensures that all content is appropriate and related to the STEM video content, and Poytner reviews the credibility of the information.

If both networks don’t approve the content, it will not be featured on the STEM feed.

The STEM feed is an initial launch of TikTok’s ongoing testing of topic feeds, allowing users to explore specific video content across different categories, such as Gaming, Food, Fashion, and Sports.

How to Add Content to STEM Video Content

Although there is plenty of #STEM content on TikTok’s ‘For You’ and ‘Following’ feeds, this content isn’t the same as video content featured directly on the STEM feed.

As mentioned above, in order for users’ content to be featured on this feed, it must be reviewed before being added to this feed.

If you want to add content to the STEM feed for revision, this needs to include STEM-related hashtags, however, this doesn’t automatically mean content will be added just by using these hashtags.

If both Common Sense Networks and Poytner approve the video content, it will be featured on the STEM tab.

LinkedIn having TikTok-like video content on its app

LinkedIn is testing a new TikTok-like short-form video content, the company confirmed to TechCrunch on Wednesday. With this new test, LinkedIn joins numerous other popular apps that have launched their own short-form video feeds following TikTok’s rise in popularity, including Instagram, YouTube, Snapchat and Netflix.

video content
short-form video

The feed was first spotted by Austin Null, a strategy director at an influencer agency called McKinney. Null posted a short demo on LinkedIn showcasing the new feed, which lives in the app’s navigation bar in a new “Video” tab. Once you tap on the new Video button, you will enter into a vertical feed of short video content that you can swipe through. You can like a video, leave a comment or share it with others. The company didn’t share details about how the feed determines which videos to show users.

The new addition is similar to the vertical short-form video feeds you see in other apps, but while those feeds include a variety of content ranging from comedy to cooking videos, LinkedIn’s feed is obviously focused on careers and professionalism. While you have always been able to post videos on LinkedIn, the new dedicated feed is  designed to boost engagement and discovery on the platform by presenting bite-sized videos that people can quickly scroll through.

Wedding Videography Content Creator

A New Wedding Role

So you all know what wedding videographers and wedding videography is, but now a new ‘character’ has emerged, the wedding content creator. These individuals are redefining how we capture, share, and cherish the precious moments of a couple’s special day.

The Wedding Videography Content Creator In Action

wedding, married couple

Moreover, the influence of social media has altered the dynamics of wedding videography planning itself. From picking the venue to selecting the decor, everything is meticulously curated to create a picturesque setting for both in-person attendees and the digital audience. Couples are not only focused on creating memorable experiences for their guests but also on generating shareable content that will live on in the digital realm long after the wedding day.

Platforms like Instagram have popularised wedding hashtags, enabling guests to contribute to the couple’s online narrative by sharing their moments and experiences. A wedding videography content creator plays a pivotal role in leveraging these hashtags, aggregating user-generated content, and weaving it into a comprehensive and heartwarming portrayal of the wedding day.

However, with this growing trend comes a debate about the intrusion of technology into intimate moments. Critics argue that the pressure to create social media-worthy content might overshadow the genuine emotions and spontaneity of the event. Balancing the desire for a digital footprint with the authenticity of the moment remains a challenge for both couples and content creators.

In conclusion, the rise of wedding social media content creators signifies a paradigm shift in the way we perceive and commemorate weddings. They are not just documenting events; they are crafting narratives that immortalise love stories in the digital sphere.
